Monetary
Donations
Tarrant
Area Food Bank (TAFB) is primarily supported
by private donations from individuals, corporations and
foundations. Limited government funds are received as reimbursement
for expenses incurred in distributing commodities from the U.S.
Department of Agriculture.
The Better Business
Bureau has recognized Tarrant Area Food Bank as meeting the Bureau's
Standards for Charitable Solicitations.
YOUR
GIFT AT WORK
A
donation of $1.00, helps Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) distribute
enough food for 5 meals.
Your
private contribution of $30 translates into a gift of food for
150 meals. Such a donation allows TAFB to distribute an average
of 62,000 pounds of food each workday, or 1,300,000 pounds each
month.
Your
Gift helps TAFB's network of agencies provide EACH MONTH:
• Emergency food to more than 30,000 households, and
• Food at agency
sites for almost 525,000 prepared meals and snacks.
Donations
also support our nutrition education programs, Choices!
for all ages and Operation
Frontline for families, and special feeding programs
for children, including Kids
Cafes and BackPacks
for Kids.
Your
Gift helps TAFB's special programs:
• Provide 5,000 meals a week to children in 18 Kids
Cafes;
• Teach children the "what," "why"
and "how" of healthy eating; and
• Assist adults, especially the elderly, in selecting
nutrition to prevent and
manage
diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
Of
those receiving food assistance, more than one-third are children.
Another 7% or more are elderly living on fixed incomes. Your generosity
can make the difference between a child going to school hungry
or arriving at school fed and ready to learn. Your gift can enable
an elderly person to purchase needed medicine without worrying
about having enough money for food.
