FOOD BANK ADVOCACY AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Tarrant Area Food Bank advocates for people struggling with hunger through its community outreach services and through involvement with elected officials. 

Community outreach services include:

• Our SNAP/Food Stamp staff providing information on and help in applying for public nutrition and health benefits 
• Staff working with community leaders to create hunger-free communities in which nutrition assistance and other aid is available to any community member in need
• Programs that increase public awareness of local hunger

In the public policy arena:

We work with the Texas Food Bank Network to inform our local elected officials of:

• Tarrant Area Food Bank services to their constituents, and
• The importance of state and federal legislation dealing with nutrition assistance and with other programs that alleviate hunger and poverty
