GETTING
STARTED
- Establish a goal for your drive such as total
pounds or cans per person and total $ per person. (Money donated
pays for transporting food donations offered by commercial food
companies from throughout the U.S.) $1.00 = 5 meals!
- Arrange forspeakers
from Tarrant Area Food Bank to come to your organization. Contact
Susan Frye, Community Events Director, at 817-332-9177, or susan.frye@tafb.org.
- Assign and oversee the following support
functions:
- In November and December, join the Turkey Drive
and have employees, custormers and others donate frozen turkeys.

to arrange a time.
- Pre-register teams for Kick
the Can (Nov. 5, 2004).
- Distributing materials -- posters, flyers, recognition cards,
etc.
- Publicity within your group.
- Notifying local news media and internal communications department
of your Food Bank drive.
- Handling and counting food.
- Transportation to the Food Bank. (See Transportation
Form and Pick-up Schedule.)
- Publicizing the suggested food list.
- Updating people on the progress of the drive via newsletter,
e-mail, memo, flyers, bulletin boards, information in break
rooms.
- Displaying the food that has been received
