Warehouse Quality Control Teams
Groups and individuals come to Tarrant Area Food Bank's warehouse in Fort Worth to volunteer in the Quality Control (QC) area. They inspect food for damage and sort and repack it for distribution.
Shifts
Quality Control Volunteers are asked to work 3-HOUR SHIFTS:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday:
9 to 12 or 1 to 4
- Tuesday & Thursday evenings: 6 to 9
- Friday, morning only: 9 to 12
During the school year, Wednesday nights are reserved for groups to pack food for the BackPacks for Kids program. Each Friday, school children at high risk of hunger on the weekends take home these backpacks of nutritious food for themselves and their school-aged siblings.
Ages
With the exception of the Wednesday night BackPacks for Kids session, QC volunteers must be at least 16 years old due to the use of moving machinery.
Youth groups with members aged 15 and younger can help with a variety of special tasks that do not occur in Quality Control, provided the group schedules its volunteer time in advance.
Clothing for Quality Control
Volunteers working in Quality Control must wear closed-toed shoes. In addition, jeans, t-shirts and sneakers are strongly recommended since sorting food can sometimes be messy.
Size of Volunteer Group
The number of people allowed to work at one time in QC will affect the days and times available for you to volunteer. Typically, Tarrant Area Food Bank can accommodate groups of up to 25 people at a time.
When scheduling your group, please know the number of people planning to participate.
