HUNGER ACTION EVENTS

Sept 1 (Wednesday), 10 am – 2 pm
BEHIND-THE-SCENES TOUR: Open House for the Public
The public is invited, free of charge, to peek behind the scenes at Tarrant Area Food Bank and learn about the Food Bank’s hunger-relief programs, including Community Kitchen, Kids Cafes, BackPacks for Kids, Operation Frontline, and Food Distribution to charities in 13 counties. The public is asked to make reservations by calling 817-332-9177, ext 110.

MAYORS’ LUNCH
At a lunch in the Tarrant Area Food Bank warehouse, the mayors of Tarrant County cities will be thanked for their efforts to fight hunger, be taken on a tour of the warehouse and be provided with the Food Bank’s latest information on local hunger.

LET'S GET TOGETHER TO END HUNGER luncheon honoring Food Drive Champions
Corporate, governmental and community sponsors of food drives benefiting Tarrant Area Food Bank are recognized for their successes and provided materials for Fall/Holiday Food Drives. Community food drives are especially needed this year to meet the increased need for emergency food aid caused by the economic recession.

PARTNER AGENCY CONFERENCE
Staff and volunteers of local hunger-relief charities that are partners with Tarrant Area Food Bank are invited to attend a day-long series of workshops and networking sessions with peers. Model Agency Awards for 2010 will be announced for Excellence in Pantry Service, Excellence in On-Site Meal Service, Excellence in Senior Service, Excellence in Children’s Service and for Innovation. LEGISLATORS’ LUNCH
At a lunch in the Tarrant Area Food Bank warehouse, State Legislators in Tarrant Area Food Bank’s 13-county service region will be thanked for their continuing efforts to address childhood obesity and hunger, be taken on a tour of the warehouse and be updated on the Food Bank’s recent efforts.
