Hunger Action Month 2010
30 Ways to Fight Hunger in 30 Days
Volunteer
- Contact Tarrant Area Food Bank or a local pantry, soup kitchen or shelter to find ways to volunteer.
- Volunteer to read children’s books about hunger awareness at your local library.
- With your kids, volunteer at Tarrant Area Food Bank or a local pantry or soup kitchen.
Donate/Raise Food
- Hold a virtual food drive, encouraging individuals to pledge monetary contributions online.
- Organize a neighborhood food drive – and be sure to check with your local food bank, pantry or shelter to determine what their needs truly are!
- Take up collections at your office, congregation, anywhere where the leadership is comfortable with you setting out a box to collect donations for your local food bank.
Donate/Raise Funds
- Donate a grocery store gift card to your local food bank so they can purchase most-needed items on their own.
- Coordinate a youth and adult athletic fundraising event to raise awareness/donations.
- Make a donation and spread the word!
- Instead of buying coffee, make coffee at home (and consider donating what you would have spent on coffee each day to your local food bank!).
- Establish an ongoing donation to Tarrant Area Food Bank or local food pantry.
If you’re a business owner, designate a day during Hunger Action Month to donate a portion of your proceeds to fight hunger.
