What We Do
As
a nonprofit distributor of surplus, donated food, we:
Collect food donations
from the community and rescue surplus food
from commercial food donors who, otherwise,
would discard the
surplus. We then transport the donated
food to our warehouse for
inspection and re-packing by community
volunteers.

As an
organization with the mission of eliminating hunger, we:
Disseminate information on nutrition,
food preparation and
related topics
to help recipients reap the greatest possible benefit from
their food. (See Nutrition Education
under SPECIAL PROGRAMS).
Operate feeding programs
for children in collaboration with
established agencies. See our Food
for Kids section to learn about our
Kids Cafe and BackPacks for Kids programs.
Offer Hunger
101 presentations and role-playing workshops to
help participants experience what it's
like to be chronically hungry and
to deal with the challenges of obtaining
food.
Provide
through our Community
Kitchen, free culinary job training to
low-income
men and women and at the same time provide nutritious meals
to Tarrant
Area Food Bank’s Kids Cafes.
